August is probably my favourite month, with December, not only is it my birthday but also my holidays.Yet,I must make clear, related to my birthday,I love receiving presents.Since I was a child, this day is pretty special and there are plenty of present which are in my deepest memorices.Nowadays,I could realize that children are not happy with their present in comparison with past times, they are completely unsatisfied .The Toy is a hilarious but clear example of that.
The toy is an American film.It is directed by Richard Donn in 1982.This comedy film was absolutely dislike from critics. They believed that it was an overwhelming aversion in spite of the Richard Pryor career. However,’The Toy’ grossed a high value when it was released.I would like to point out that this movie was an adaptation on a French comedy.Regarding Pryor trayectory,he is well-known over some relevant hits like ‘See no evil, hear no evil’ or ‘Moving’.
After personal negative situations,Jack Brown (Richard Pryor) is looking for a job and recover his house. Finally,Jack ends up working to a ambitious and arrogant businessman U.S.Bates.Jack is absolutelly upset to have to work with ruthless department store owner but it is his last choice. One day, while Jack is working in the department store,Eric (Scott Schwartz) the selfish and spoiled son of the boss, informs his father’s right-hand man (Sydney Morehouse) that he wants to have Jack Brown as a present birthday. This fact is so humilianting to Jack becomes as Eric’s new ‘toy’.Sydney, despite human beings cannot be owner, tries to convince Jack to accept this offer and a compensation paying his house.Finally.it is crystal clear that it may be something weird but it surprensedly becomes a joyous friendship.
All in all,I highly recommend this 80s comedy and another Richard Pryor success,in my personal view, will be watched many generations to come due to its meaning lessons and to its amusing script…Why me?of all the stuff in the store, why did you pick me?.
