THE HEIRESS : A truly great motion picture

This film review is dedicated to Cristina,my wife.

It is a well-known fact that love, mainly love relationships,is not an easy way.As the saying goes ´Not all that glitters is gold'.Sometimes, although it appears to be weird, not everybody has the same outlook.Unfortunately, there are also economic or personal interests, although finally love is tougher than money. However,in some case is possible really late. The Heiress is totally a mirror of this reality situation.

This unforgettable film is a 1949 American drama film.It is fabulously directed by William Wyler. The Heiress is based from their 1947 play, which in turn is an adaptation from the Washington square novel in 1880 and it is written by Henry James. The film received countless awards and nominations, over all 4 academy awards for main female actress Olivia de Havilland, best director, best costume designer score and best original score. In United States is considered as a culturally, historically and aesthetically significant.

1850,Catherine Sloper 8O (Olivia de Havilland) lives with her father (Ralph Richardson) who held responsible for the death of his mother, which it is easy due to her fragile personality and low self-esteem.One day,Morris Townsend (Montgomery Cliff),a handsome guy,who courts the young Catherine. At first glance it seems to be healthy attraction. But,this fact is not the case taking into account he knows that she will get an important inherit. So,Catherine falls madly in love with Morris and they plan so marry. However,Catherine's father is reluctant to this relationship and he forgiven her to see Morris. The strength of this film is its un expected ending, without a doubt whatsoever.

To conclude, this film proves to be compelling and enthralling given that his director seems to know human behaviors perfectly. You must watch The Heiress, despite its pessimistic-yet thouthful vision about human selfishness beings....  Only your heart can grasp the full greatness of these starts...This story!

THE NEVERENDING STORY : Fantasy world

This film review is dedicated to my childhood friend,Raul.
R.I.P Zurdo (1979-2023)

Can you imagine a world where everyone could live their own neverending story? As the saying goes,Not all that glitters is gold in our daily life. It's true that when you are an adult, you should have responsibilities and forget your fantasy world. However, when you are a child all of them is different. The Neverending story shows which we always want to be when we were a child, having a much-loved kids adventure.

I cannot help to say that I love this movie. However,I pretty love its book which was published in 1979 that it's worth to read. This wonderful film was released in 1984,five years later that Michael Ende published this famous novel.Although this West German fantasy film didn't receive too much awards, any of nomination of Young Artist Award, its criticisms were totally favorable and it performed very well at the box office.Wolfgang Petersen, director and co-writer,Showed the Ende's novel in two films,The Neverending Story and The Next Chapter, and after that another one more which was called Escape from Fantasy.

Bastian (Barret Oliver) is a shy boy who goes through bullying from the rest of the children. One day,he is running away from his daily jokes,he hides in a bookstore. There, the shop-assistent advices him about a dangerous book which he should must read. However,Bastian can't help to take it.After that,Bastian hides in his school's attic, where he begins read.It starts off when magical land of fantasy is starting to disappear due to its young Empress (Tami Sttonach) is illness and this fact brings about this land becomes´The Nothing`,where all its magical population will disappear too. So,a yound warrior named Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) with Auryn (a powerful medallion that protects him from all harm) along with a luckdragon named Falkor (or Fuyur) try to find the Empress cure.During their journey, our characters travel around the fantasy world to get the solution where Bastian's role become essential.

Anyway, although the plot is not exactly real I recommend you read the book given that it is an entertaining story that makes you reflect your view when you were a child. In addition, it was way ahead of its time : thinking of that magical land of fantasy at that time was really creative, don't you think ?.
It's fair to point out that this novel, this film and its soundtrack is must!!
.......´Nothing is lost.....everything is transformed´
