HAMNET : Love of a mother

There is no doubt that the love between parents and children is the biggest one.For that,when a father or a mother loses one,their hurt is absolutely devastating.Unfortunately and recently,close to me,I’ve suffered how my mum lost my brother.Agnes,the main character of Hamnet struggles for her son and her loss is shown soulfully in this film

Hamnet is a historical and drama film.It was directed by Chloe Zhao in 2025,and it was based on the novel  by O’Farrell,written five years before.First and foremost,the film has been a complete success.Hamnet received positive and numerous accolades,especially the performance of Jessie Buckley,which is absolutely amazing.As a result,the film received eight nominations at the 98th Academy Awards,where it finally achieved the Academy Award for best actress.The film manages many curiosities,the most famous that the audience asks why the title is : Hamlet is the title of the play because it was derived from an old French tale featuring a character named Amlith,which became anglicized,while Hamner was the name of Shakespeare’s son,with the names being used interchangeably in Elizabethan times due to fluids spelling.

During one of her routine visits to the forest,Agnes,the daughter of a forest witch,meets to William,a future theater actor,in a cave into the forest.There,Agnes reads William’s palm,seeing a successful future together.Despite the William’s motter oposition,they start a relationship and Agnes gives birth in the woods.After that they have to twin,Hamnet and Judith.William receives an offer to work in London as a result he leaves his family.Agnes takes care of their children.Yet,the situation turns on a dramatic moment due to the illness of one them.

It is an absolutely beautiful film.It is magnificent cinematography,terrific screenplay and sensational acting performances from Buckley and Mescal.In my humble opinion,one of the best films of this year.

…Every life has its kernel…This moment is the absent mother’s : the boy,the empty house,the deserted yard..It will lie at her very core,for the rest of her life.

AMERICAN NINJA : The deadliest art of the Orient is now in the hands of an American

Thanks brother,you are always my idol

Always in my heart,I love you

When I started this blog,I reckon that my intention was just improving my English or just a little bit of pastime.During these years (around 8 years),my life has changed and I’m not the same person,especially in the last year.Unfortunately,this film review is dedicated to my brother,who has recently passed away.This situation makes me feel devastated.I remember my childhood memories,when my brother and I decided to rent a VHS tape in a random video rental store.Chuck Norris,Bruce Lee among others were always the options.Yet,American Ninja always was one of the first ideas.We knew the plot by heart.My brother loves (it is not possible for me to talk in the past) the ninja films and as a result I always follow his hobbies.I’m sure that you should have a better film review or a better film,but only seeing the cover reminds me of our best moments.I always love you,my dear brother.

American Ninja is an American martial arts film in 1985.It’s directed by Sam Firstenberg.This director was famous in the 80s,especially in this genre with titles such as American Delta Force,Cyborg Cop or American Samurai.Nowadays,this film is considered as a cult film,yet at the first view,it had negative opinions in spite of its financial success.American Ninja had several sequels American Ninja 2 :The Confrontation in 1987,American Ninja 3 : Blood Hunt (1989),American Ninja : The Annihilation (1990) and American Ninja 

American Joe Armstrong (Michael Dudikoff) is condemned to go to prison,but he has an alternative to avoid it: joining on the US Army,which is his final decision.During a transporting equipment,in which the daughter Coronel William Hickock’s (Patricia Hickock) is inside,Joe and their mates are surprised by the Black Star Order of ninjas.Most of the squad is wiped out by the ninjas.Fortunately,Joe got to escape and to save Patricia’s life.Yet,the Black Star Order and its Master do not give up on their target.

There is no doubt that Brings back old and good memories when we watched VHS tapes but with very bad quality.As the reason I mentioned before,I still can watch the full film anytime.However, I know that from martial artist,director,shooting and playing point of view this is not the best one.Yet,to my mind,I always remember to watch it as an amazing film close to my brother.

THE GREAT RESET : AI is a fact

What do you think about artificial intelligence? Is artificial intelligence dangerous for human survival? There is no doubt that AI is something impossible to stop. Every day, it makes new alternatives or improvements to change our lives. However, many people claim that it is a hazardous tool and moreover, it could be the end of the world. In the film industry, The Great Reset sparked an online debate, with some experts calling it unacceptable and too much advance, this debate raised the question: how much is too much progress?

In the Cannes Film Festival,in 2026,The Great Reset was presented.This is the first time that a feature fully filmed with artificial intelligence (AI) which has aroused significant interest among distributors and specialised media.It is relevant to remark that the work was written and directed by the Spanish filmmaker Daniel H.Torrado.The artificial intelligence was involved in all stages of production and post-production,from image to sound design,but always with human supervision.The project began in 2023 with the writing of the script.Nowadays,the film has been filmed in some cinema rooms but under the supervision of Hollywood staff because during the 2026 Oscar ceremony award,The Great Reset was presented to the audience

A rogue hacker,John Ward,creates a holocaust plan to destroy the world.He thinks that the world will be destroyed in his way and so saving her daughter Enma Ward,and they recuperate their relationship.He uses an artificial intelligence to acheive it.Yet,Enma tries to avoid his father’s intentions due to this idea of salvation means erasing the world as it exists,and rebuilding it in his own image.Enma must decide whether to stop what’s left of her father or risk losing everything once again

It is more than clear that the Spanish filmmaker is a pioneer in a new era of cinema,but it is also true that there is a question which the cinema industry wonders : is AI a threat or an opportunity for the cinema? As far as I’m concerned.I will watch it to modify or certify my opinion about this controversial topic.

ZOOTOPIA : I’m gonna make the world a better place

           

Once upon a time someone who always said to you that you won’t be able to do it or let it go because it was not for you.This someone tried to convince you that you were not capable,maybe because he was who is not capable.Yet,you kept trying and you didn’t give up.Finally,thanks your mentality and efford,you got it.Perseverance or belief in yourself is absolutely essential to achieve your dreams.Under no circumstances should you leave anyone criticize  your dreams.Our main character,the little rabbit Judy Hoops is a clear example.

Zootopia or Zootropolis (tittle in some countries) is an American animated film.It was produced by Walt Disney in 2016.The directors were Byron Howard and Rich Torrence.At first glance,Zootipia seems to be another typical animated film by Disney but with numerous positive reviews.It is considered one of the best films in 2016.Its screenplay,animation and subject matter makes to Zootopia a great movie.For these reasons,the film has filmed a sequel in 2025,Zootopia 2.I’d like to mention a funny curiosity in this film,there is a scene in which Judy opens her music gadget.There,we can read that all songs are related to animals,such us The Beagles (the Beatles + beagle),Guns n’ Rodents ( Guns N’ Roses + Roedor) or Mick Jaguar (Mick Jagger + Jaguar) among others.

Judy Hopps is a rural rabbit who dreams of becoming the first police officer in the city of Zootopia.On the one hand,Judy is really smart and persistent but on the other hand she is little and lightweight in order to join the police department.During her first days,Judy is assigned to difficulties duties because her supervisor,Chief Bogo,underestimates her potential.During her first target,Judy meets a Nick Wilde,a red fox.At first glance,Judy discovers that Nick is a thieft although he convinces her that he could change his future and to be her police couple.Together,they will be able to solve a complex matter.

Zootopia includes all the elements of a well-rounded and funny story that strikes a range of emotional chords.It has lovable characters,witty dialogue,creativity,a great soundtrack and significant themes that connect with the audience

ELF : Smiling’s my favorite

Christmas is a time to catch up with your family and friends,have fun with it but also to give an overview about of your whole year.Our negative moments but the good instants.To sum up,a time to take a break.To my mind,2025 has been my worst year.I’m suffering a lot and I know that I will have an enormous amount of work to get back to the grind.

Fortunately,Christmas is also a nice period of time to spend time with the youngest members of the family who always give us happiness.And why not? Watching a Christmas film with them.Their smile and their enthusiasm over Santa Claus or our main character of this review,Elf,is the best medicine

Elf is an American Christmas comedy film.It was directed by Jon Favreau in 2003.The movie was inspired by a musical on Broadway,Elf: The musical.At the first glance,according its low budget,Elf was going to be a simple Christmas movie,yet its success was unpredictable.As a main character,Buddy the Elf was initially eyed to play by Jim Carrey.Yet,Carrey wanted to go on to headline his own Christmas movies,like the film How The Grinch Stole Christmas.Finally,Will Farrell was chosen.Despite his huge success,Farrell refused to make Elf .

During one Christmas Eve,Buddy,an orphanage baby,is adopted by Papa Elf.This baby is found in the Santa Claus’s sack.There,Buddy grows in the North Pole and he believes that it is a real elf..Despite he has some similarities like an elf,however he is taller than them and he isn’t able to make some elf’s occupations and he casually discovers that he is a human.So,he knows that he has parents but his mother passed away.So,Buddy settles to look for his father to in New York.Here,the travel will not be easy and his father’s reaction will not be the normal to see his Elf son.

There is no doubt that a good film always shouldn’t be a masterpiece to entertaining.‘Elf’ is something absurb and unsahamedly and I say that as a compliment.Even if you aren’t  a Will Farrell fan,he’s an absolute blast in this fun and Christmas holiday treat.

THE STING : The Golden boy

Robert Redfort is considered one of the best actors in cinema history.Recently,last October 2025,the Golden boy,so he was called,passed away to the 90 age.Before,Robert Redford left an enormous legate,not only as an actor but also as a director.Titles like The way we were,All president’s men or out of Africa or will always be in our memories and his footprint will be eternal.To my mind,it has been so difficult to decide one title of his titles,because most of them are masterpieces.Finally,I have choosen the Sting because with Paul Newman gifted us a masterpiece without a doubt whatsoever.

The sting is an American heist film.It was directed by George Roy Hill in 1973,this director also run Paul Newman and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid.This film was based on real conspiracy and with it has many similarities with the book The Big Con: The Story of the Confidence Man by David Maures,which brought a plagiarism lawsuit by the author.There is no doubt that its success was enormous,in terms of Academy Awards,this film won seven of its ten nominations.The sting had a squeal in 1983 (that’s best forgotten).The title of Sting means the final trick that leaves the victim realizing they have been scammed but unable to prove it,like a bee’s sting.

During the great depression,in 1936.Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) and his partners earned their living with tricks and with dishonest games.After one the gimmicks,Hooker loses his buddy,and he needs to find another one to keep cheating.So,Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman) appears in Hooker’s live.They became the best friends and the best partners.They decide to resurrect an obsolete scam known as ‘the wire’.Together,not only hover they the ‘the wire’,but also a revenge of the friend’s death.

The plot spirals with surprise after surprise,spinning from a tension between mirth and danger.When danger is most threatening,laughter begins to sound.And every twist produces wonderment and delight like watching a sleight of magic.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET : One,two,Freddy coming for you..

Darkness,loneliness or uncertainty..these are some feelings that we sense when we are alone at night,especially on a non-usual street.This fear of being alone at night is principally generated from some situations we watch on TV,but also from some horror movies we have watched beforehand.

A Nightmare om Elm streer is a clear example of that,many past generations have suffered terrified dreams to find Freddy Krueger on the next corner.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is an American horror film.It was directed by Wes Craven in 1984.There is no doubt that we are talking about one of the horror bloody films ever made.Besides,it was selected in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being ‘cultural and historically’.

This successful franchise involves six sequels,TV series,cartoons and plenty of merchandising.For the 80s generation,it was shocking to see the main character in this role,because previously he had been watched in a friendly role in the TV series V.

At a first idea,Freddy would be a child abuser,yet it is remarkable to point out that in this original plot was changed due to the real cases in California about this problem and for the future repercussions.

The story begins with a group of female teenagers who just have the same nightmare.One day,they talk about that they realice that all bad dreams have the same main character,a disfigured man wearing bladed glove who is called Freddy Krueger.During a girls pyjamas party,Tina’s boyfriend,Rob,enters the house.During this night Rob sees that his girlfriend is killed by the deformed man.Yet,the Rob's alibi is not believed by policemen and he is arrested.The panic keeps coming from the rest of the girls,because the Freeddy nightmares are more and more realistic

A Nightmare on Elm Street will deserve to be considered a classic.This movie is an atmospheric,memorable and suspenseful,full of creative and shocking kills.Besides,featuring one of cinema’s most recognisable villains.

‘One,two,Freddy’s coming for you.Three,four,better lock the door.Five,six,grab your crucifix.Sevem,eight,gonna stay up late.Nine,ten,never sleep again.

THE BOY WITH THE STRIPED PYJAMAS : Lines may divide us,but hope will unite us.

                                                                    

                                         

‘Every war is a defeat to the human spirit’ as said the famous novelist Henry Miller.I”m totally sure that this phrase is familiar to us.Unfortunately,we are getting used to seeing many world conflicts,which always end up with terrific facts where plenty of innocent people pass away.

In these days,it seems to be that the Israel war is over.Yet,the damage is being horrible,and the future  consequences could be worse.In the film of the Boy in the Striped Pajamas perfectly shows the whole facts that a war involves,especially the drama and sadness of the children’s skin.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is an American historical-drama film.It was directed and written by Mark Herman.Needless to say that this movie was based on the well-known novel with the same name by John Boyne.Generally,this type of book representations based on famous bestsellers don’t have positive reviews,but to contrary The Boy in the Striped Pajamas received good opinions.Not only had it for the plot representation,but also how brillant showed the elements of the Holocaust.There is an unspoken point which the film never mentions,the Austwich concentration camp is never explicitly named in the film,just as it isn’t in the novel,where Bruno refers to it as ‘Out-With’.

During the Second war world,Bruno,our little character is obligated to move to Auswich.He lived in Berlin,and his life was really happy with his three best friends.There,he lived with his father Ralf,an SS officer and his mum and his sister.After they have moved in,through his window Bruno observes many people wearing the same clothes,like a striped pajamas.Bruno thinks that they are farmers,but what he doesn’t know is that they are Jews and they are in concentration camp.Every day,Bruno is looking for something to play due to he feels isolated and bored.One day,he goes to the concentration camp,he finds an eight years old boy like him on the other side of the metal fence.Bruno and his new friend,Samuel star an innocent relationship.Yet,they don’t know that their lives and destinations are completely separately.

The Boy in the striped pajamas is an superb adaptation of John Boyne’s novel that bears witness to the unyielding horrors of the Holocaust through the eyes of a child.

In my case,it was a must watching this film after reading the novel,to be honest I didn't feel disappointed.

A NIGHT AT THE OPERA : The Marx Bros

As the saying goes’,this is packed like a clown car’ or more literal ‘this is more crowded than the Marx Brothers stateroom’.Fortunately,in August,Madrid is a perfect place to stay.Streets and restaurants almost empty,it is easy to find a parking lot or a cinema ticket,etc….without a doubt whatsoever,it is a luxury!.On the other hand,the most famous areas of tourism of Spain are absolutely crowded!.In fact,according to some TV images,there are some Spanish beaches are crowded than the Marx brothers stateroom.

A Night at the Opera is an American comedy film in 1935.This film was written by George S.Kaufman and Morrie Rysking,and it was directed by Sam Wood.Needless to say that this masterpiece was catalogated by the Library Congress as ‘culturally,historically or aesthetically significant’.The Marx Brothers worked with Paramount Pictures,and after that they made under contract for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.A Night at the Opera is one of the most famous films of Marx Brothers’ career.Nowadays,Groucho,Chico and Harpo continue to be collective and individually three of the really first-rate comedians.As a curiosity,it is important to remark that the other Marx Brothers,Gummo and Zeppo,left that group before their great success.Finally,I’d like to point out that Harpo was known for his silent,pantomimed-based character.In reality,he was soft-spoken and had a New York accent.

A group of well-known people,Otis B.Driftwood,Mrs.Claypool,Lassparri and Gottlieb,set ail from Italy to New York aboard an ocena liner.Previously,Driftwood convinved to Mrs.Claypool and Gottlieb to invest in the opera company.This company needs to hire the italian tenor Rodolfo Lassparri.On the other hand,two Tripulantes,,Fiorello and Tomasso are discovered by Driftwood who wants to get out them because they could hinder la opera and as a result the businessYet,Fiorello refuses to leave at least before eating something,but this fact only could be an Artimaña to keep aboard.

A Night at the Opera is quite funniest,the most ambitious and the most entertaining of any of the Marx cinema offering.Every minute of the picture gives something new to laughat.It’s the best and the most insane of their realeases since they started their mad flight across the cinema heavens.

SMURFTS : An adventure that will blue you away

 

When you were little,what cartoons did you use to watch? Fortunately,to my generation,the variety of them was amazing.From David the gnome,Dungeons and dragons or Willy Fog among others.Yet,there was one of them which was really charming.I am talking about the smurfts.I’d like to point out that this time,my nostalgia make me decide on our summer film.To be honest,I have to reckon that the film didn’t get my expectations according to my childhood momeires.Yet,it is also true that it was another unforgettable moment with my nephew.

Smurfts is a live-action movie in 2025.This highly knowledgeable American toon is based on the Smurfts comic book.The film is directed by Chris Miller and written by Pam Brady.It is true that the Smutfs are highly attractive,principally for children.As a result the film has grossed a huge successful worldwide,despite its adverse reviews.Another point to bear in mind is that Rihanna is included in many aspects of the film,not only as a voice actor,but also as a producer along with writing and recording original songs.It is crystal clear that her participation is a strong point. 

All is happiness in the smurf village…well not all.There is an unnamed Smurf who is unfortunate due to he doesn’t have a name or a quality to give him a name,such as Vanity Smurft,Grouchy Smurft,Brainy Smurfts or Papa Smurf.One day,while the unnamed Smurf and Smurfette are waling in the woods,the unnamed received a power which gives him a magic energy and as a result a smurf name.Yet,this weird power is a consequence of the intergalactic Evil Wizard Alliance,who handle Gargamel’s brother,Razamel.His main purpose is to destroy the smurf village and,he uses this weird power to get it. 

There is not doubt that this film is colorful amd fairly fast-pased,with a strong voice cast and possitive message for kids.Furthermore,the director Chris Miller’s take on the little blue gnomes shows a of true magic.

…There is a place.A place that no knows sadness,where even feeling blue is a happy thing.
