What do you make of Eurovision? Needless to say that this famous song contest is absolutely relevant in the music world.Besides,I must point out that not only is usually this topic controversial, but also very broad. Many people claim that Eurovision is clearly manipulated and some countries will never win it back, among other Spain.Yet,it is also true that it is an amazing opportunity for musicians to be in the spotlight or boosting their careers,The Fire Saga is a clear example of that.
Eurovision Song Contest:The Story of Fire Saga is an American musical film.It is originally directed by David Dobkin in 2020.This film was released by Netflix on June,2020 although it was initially announced one month before but it wasn’t possible due to the Covid pandemic.I must make clear that this film was greatly attached by Eurovision fans, and it was the top-streamed item on Netflix in its first weekend.Last but not least, its soundtrack is one of the most relevant points, for instance, its song ‘Husavik’ received a nomination at the Academy Awards.
Lars (Will Ferrell) and Sigrit (Rachel McAdams) are Icelandic amateur singer that they have been always Eurovision fans and why not? Getting their dream, they will participate in this context one day. They are best friends since childhood, and their music passion ends up creating the band Fire Saga and playing every night in a local pub of Husavik. One day,as a group of consequences, they are given the change their country at the Eurovision.During the hearing, they go through several unexpected situations and they have a chaotic performance. After this play, all the finalists are invited to a boat party, but the couple decline the offer because they feel upset for their disastrous performance.’Sadly’ the board suffers an explosion and everyone death. After that,Lars and Sigrit are the unique representation of Iceland in Eurovision. There, they will meet new famous people, achieve their dream and mainly change their old friendship to a warm love.
For me,The story of Fire Saga is a crazy and fun movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still with some nice messages, great music, and shows how events can bring our world together in a creative and peaceful way yet we can still laugh at our differences,I have watched it many times and after it leaves you with a great feeling inside. In a nutshell, for Eurovision lovers this film is a must.
