REBECCA : Genius Hitchcock

Do you know what was the secret of Manderley? Maybe you don't know the answer, however, which you should know is about this gothic romance film.Throughout Hitchcock career,it's a well-known fact that there are wonderful titles from this genuine director, which it will be difficult to choose one of them, although from my point of view 'Rebecca' is a must watch.

The British-born American filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock is the best-known to love making movies on location instead of in the studio and passionate of mystery plots.'Rebecca' was based on the 1938 novel with the same name by Daphne du Maurier, after reading Hitchcock decided to direct 'Rebecca' with David O.Selznick production in 1940.The film received countless awards due to its big success,an Academy Award among others. One curiosity about this film is the clothing which main female wears during the permormance, after this movie this garb was called with the name of this film.

Maximillian de Winter (Laurence Olivier) is a lord in Montecarlo. One night, this aristocratic widower meets a beautiful and sweet woman (Joan Fontaine) who works as a paid companion to E.Van Hopper (Florence Bates). After first day,the couple fall in love in due time, but the unnamed young women hides this information to his superior. Finally, the couple get married and they decide to live in Manderly, and the young women become the second Mrs the Winter. This place is really mysterious mansion.Max never comes back after his previous wife dead. The Rebecca's shadow, her stranger death and the staff of Manderlay take a horrible stay to the new Mrs the Winter.

This film is fascinating and really entertaining, especially after the first meeting between Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier.Although it seems to be an old-fashioned story, nothing could be further from the truth, which is an original plot and easy to follow and when you start you can not put it down.I highly recommend 'Rebeca' to anyone who enjoys mystery films.
........Last night I dreamt I came to Manderley again.
